Newsgroup Provider: Astraweb
Speed: 1.5 - 2 kbps (I think verizon fios and TW, both seemed to throttled my line)
Speed Consistency: Inconsistent
Connections: Up to 20, but I used 10
Cost: $10 per month
Comments: I left Astraweb after nzbmatrix was taken down. Left because the inconsistency in download speeds a few times a week. I previously used Supernews which had hiccups periodically, but was significantly more consistent than astra. Looking for a new home now since take downs and speeds are such a problem. Since the matrix went down, i have been out of the loop since after 10 years of consistent newsgroup use. nzbX.co is convincing me to get back in and you guys are doing a great job after such a short period of time. I'm also looking into dutch providers and would like to hear more about them from users and their experiences, since the take downs are a bit slower. Also, if anyone wants to add categories to survey, please do. Thanks.

I was in the same boat as yourself and after doing alot of reading to where my eyes started bleeding I decided to tryout tweaknews.eu. They have it where you can buy a small chunk and test it out. I tried it out and was very happy with the service and the amount of articles I was able to retrieve so I signed up for a 6 month trial. Been exceptionally pleased with the results

I was a long time giganews subscriber and while they're reliable they're also expensive. I left them and went to block accounts from various providers (blocknews, newsgroupdirect, newsdemon, etc). I generally try to keep 2 accounts active and buy them when I see specials. The last purchase I made was 1TB transfer for $40 USD.

I'm still on Astraweb. But I'm not a huge/heavey downloader. I got a non-expiring 1TB block for $50 back in August and still have 896GB left. I also usually just use binsearch and manually add NZBs to a downloader. I have only noticed one title having a lot of missing articles and getting removed quickly. But even that I was able to eventually get by just being persistent.
EDIT: Two titles.

Was with xlned. No caps but a bandwidth limiter. Quite cheap.
About €5/month for 20mbit / 8 conns.
7€/month for 120mbit, 12 conns.
Might be about to move because they don't take PayPal any more. So the only other option is the dreaded bank transfer...
