There is a FANTASTIC, much more regularly updated, faster, sexier alternative to SickBeard called NZBDrone.

http://nzbdrone.com

It already has nzbx.co support and I just wanted to let people know about it. I switched about a week ago and I couldn't be happier to be off of SickBeard.

It's built in .NET and comes with an installable service that makes sure it's running all the time. Great for Windows users. May also run under MONO/Wine in Linux but I haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just know SickBeard has been dragging ass on proper nzbX support and this program just has everything working wonderfully with some great bells and whistles (like the ability to limit download size. This is what drove me to find an alternative.)

ALSO! If this is the wrong spot to post this, please move it or whatever. Just figured it'd also be a good spot for complaints/bug dumps in case people find any. I've not seen any as yet though.

Based on this post, I decided to try NZBdrone, and I too am now a convert. It's sweet.

It does indeed work well.

For me it's not a alternative since I'm using a low powered device with Sickbeard + nzbget 24/7 to download. A Windows .net App is useless on such a device.

But I guess it does not help with all those incomplete releases?

That is a USP issue - with the advent of automated takedowns it's a case of relying on your USP to have a complete copy.

I dont know about sexier, but it does work pretty slick. Still not finding everything for the series i have, but it did find some on nzbx and others from freenzb. I like the icons and mouse overs which tell you where it got the nzb from. Much better than digging through SB logs.
Ill have to make nzbx my soul indexer and see if i get similar results.

Well i disabled all but NZBX for Indexers and its real hit or miss for HD versions of some popular series that i watch. I tried grabbing episodes from the latest seasons for 5 different shows and some episodes were found and others werent. Not a real comprehensive test, but it seems NZBX still needs some help.

I'm trying this out now because I was having issues with sickbeard not automatically downloading episodes. They would just appear as "missed" in the "upcoming episodes" section. If I manually searched there, they would download, but it defeated the automation.

So far Nzbdrone is doing much better with automatically finding episodes. I'll have to check on how it's renaming and updating xbmc.

Is nzbdrone down? The site hasn't been accessible for the past few days.
